Continued Election Content Censoring

We at the Ogden Valley Forum decided to come out of blogging retirement because we are disappointed—and frankly disgusted—by the ongoing censorship surrounding this election. Far too many local Facebook groups that claim to be “unbiased” are silencing voices that question Janet Wampler’s background or express support for Shanna Francis.

This censorship is only getting worse. Residents who raise legitimate questions about Janet’s political leanings, or who speak up in favor of Shanna, are being blocked, removed, or otherwise shut out of the conversation. That isn’t healthy debate—it’s manipulation of the narrative.

We encourage everyone to read through the comments at the newly created Ogden Valley Citizens 411 page, which included screenshots taken directly from Janet Wampler’s X account.

For transparency, we’ll add this disclaimer: over the past week we’ve received many of these screenshots and originally chose not to publish them. However, given how one-sided the discussion has become, we believe it’s important that the full picture be available to the community.   With that in mind, we have now included a link to some of the screenshots.

Click here to view this post from the newly created Ogden Valley Citizens 411 page, started just about a week ago in response to the censorship happening in other local groups, including:

  • Ogden Valley Citizens
  • Ogden Valley 411
  • Ogden Valley Election Forum

On the surface, those groups appear to be open and inclusive. In reality, they either block posts and comments supporting Shanna Francis or shut down any discussion critical of Janet Wampler, up to, and including, the blocking of members. Ogden Valley Citizens 411 and The Ogden Valley Forum were created to provide a space where all voices can be heard without fear of censorship.

Conflict of Interest? You Decide

 Conflict of Interest? You Decide.

In the attached video, candidate Wampler states emphatically that she has no conflicts of interest. She acknowledged that in the mid-2000s her father invested in Wolf Creek, but noted that it was long ago and he is no longer involved.

On the surface, that sounds reasonable—until you look closer. The Wampler Family WCRH, LLC appears on the Utah business entity website, created in 2018 and most recently renewed on 3/31/2025. That’s not the mid-2000s.

Even more concerning, the Registered Agent is listed as John Lewis, the principal behind Wolf Creek.

Now consider her donor list: Susan Wampler contributed $10,000 in July—and possibly more since then.

So, is this truly “no conflict”? Or is this just another case of looking the other way?

The Ogden Valley Forum is Back

Nearly twenty years ago, the Ogden Valley Forum Blog was created as a one-stop place for residents to sound off about issues facing our beautiful valley. It quickly became the most popular site of its kind because we didn’t censor voices—we welcomed all opinions, whether we agreed with them or not. Later, the site evolved into a Facebook page, but we stayed true to those same ideals.

A few years ago, we chose to pause and let other local groups take the lead. Now, with Ogden Valley at a crossroads and the first election for mayor and town council of the new city underway, it’s clear that open dialogue is needed more than ever. Unfortunately, some online groups have begun censoring posts, blocking residents, and presenting only one side of the conversation.

Unfortunately, some online groups have begun censoring posts, blocking residents, and presenting only one side of the conversation.

We believe our community deserves better. So we’re reopening this forum to give every resident—and every candidate—a fair and respectful platform to be heard.

Below is our original post from April 28, 2006. Nearly two decades later, we still stand by those same ideals.

We invite all candidates, residents, and anyone who cares about Ogden Valley to join the conversation. In the end, open discussion makes our valley stronger.

About Ogden Valley Utah Forum

Many changes are occurring in and around our valley. Whether you are a long term and full time resident, or a more recent part time transplant, these many changes and issues will effect us all. Growth, traffic and Sewage and water issues are a huge concern and have been limited largely to the north side of the valley, but there are now several developments proposed on the South side. Large developments that are in various stages of planning and approval from the County.

This venue is intended to serve as a non-partisan public community forum, providing citizens of Ogden Valley Utah a cyber focal point within which to discuss, debate and rant about any and all local governmental policies and issues in and around Huntsville, Eden and Liberty, Utah.

Users are invited to visit, chat, argue, bicker, promote and co-ordinate political events, post, link and read articles, and whatever else -- so long as they observe a reasonable level of civility and decorum. For those folks new to blogging, consider this blog a cyber "letters-to-editor" venue, with a lot more of a free-wheeling attitude than you'll find in your hometown newspaper.

If you want to put in your $.02, just post your own comments with the comments button. The comments interface is similar to the one you probably use for regular email. For those of you more familiar with the ways of the blogosphere, you already know the drill, so have at it and enjoy.
