Summit and Utah Film Center to Bring Independent Film to Ogden Valley

Summit and Utah Film Center to Bring Independent Film to Ogden Valley
Partnership attracts statewide traveling film program for monthly showings

EDEN, Utah (May 14, 2013)—Summit, producer of the influential leadership conference Summit Series and owners of Powder Mountain, today announced a partnership with the Utah Film Center to bring independent, documentary, and dramatic film to the Ogden Valley.

“This is the kind of collaboration we’d love to see more of in the future,” said Summit Partner Thayer Walker. “Our goal is to share the knowledge and resources of the Summit community with the Ogden Valley, Weber County, and the state of Utah as a whole. Long term, we hope to amplify the impact of other fantastic local organizations, while bringing artistic and cultural programming to local residents.”

As part of the Utah Film Circuit, the program will begin this fall with monthly showings of films that are otherwise unavailable at commercial venues. The venue and schedule will be announced in late summer or early fall of 2013.

This past March, Summit partnered with the Utah Film Center for an Eden showing of “The Crash Reel,” a documentary about pro snowboarder Kevin Pearce’s recovery from a traumatic brain injury suffered while training for the Olympics. “Given the response to that showing,” said Walker, “it seemed there was demand for a regular film program in the valley.”

The Utah Film Circuit currently serves the communities of West Jordan, Ogden, and Moab and will be expanding into the Price/Helper area and Sundance Resort in the coming year.

“We strive to create community partnerships throughout the state of Utah, and Summit is a natural fit to help expand the audience for film and activism,” said Holly Yocom, executive director of the Utah Film Center.

Ogden Canyon Update: More hard closures.

Ogden Canyon Waterline Project Alert:

SR-39 through Ogden Canyon will be closed to ALL through traffic Sunday, May 19, 2013, beginning at 9:00pm until 5:00am on Monday morning, and again on Monday, May 20, 2013, beginning at 9:00pm until 5:00am on Tuesday morning.  The contractor will need the use of both lanes of traffic to install water service connections.

The location of this closure will be at the top of the third phase of construction (approximate address is 600 Ogden Canyon).  During these closure hours, all canyon residents living west of the construction zone (including those residents living within the construction zone) will have to enter and exit the canyon from the west (the bottom of the canyon).  All residents living east of the construction zone will have to enter and exit the canyon from the east (the top of the canyon).   We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

We want to again thank everyone for your patience during this project.

Ogden Canyon Update - Sunday Closures

On Sunday, May 5th, Ogden City, Ogden Canyon, and Ogden Valley will play host to a collegiate bike race.  During the race, it will be necessary to close SR-39 through Ogden Canyon based on the following approximate schedule:
·         9:30am – 10:30am for the women’s collegiate bike race
·         2:15pm – 3:15pm for the men’s collegiate bike race

Please be aware that these times are only approximations and may vary slightly depending on how quickly (or slowly) the peloton moves through the course.  Our traffic control team will be on site to get traffic restored as quickly as possible after each race.

Remember to be safe and alert when driving through the construction zone in Ogden Canyon.  There is a lot going on in a very narrow area.  It takes a team effort to ensure that everyone is safe.
