Annual Star Party Saturday October 1st

Please join us Sat night Oct 1 at 8pm for our annual star party with the mighty telescopes of the Ogden Astronomical Society!

The weather looks good with daytime temp of 70 degrees.

Enter Middle Gate of North Fork Park (the world's 21st International Dark Sky Park) and follow the signs to Mustang Flats Bowery.  See poster below and attached.

Also on Oct 1 at 10am is the dedication of the first dark sky barn mural of our Dark Sky Mural Trail - at the Fuller barn just opposite the elementary school.  Thank you to artist Jake Songer and the Fuller family.

Fall Full Moon Wildlife Wander (Migration) with DWR

This Fall’s Full Moon Wildlife Wander will be led by DWR specialist Clint Brunson with a focus on migration and will feature live birds from HawkWatch International. Migration is nearly universal within the animal kingdom; mobility is a defining animal trait in animals across the globe. Come take a gentle stroll under the full moon in the world's 21st International Dark Sky Park and learn more!  At last Spring’s Wildlife Wander, a moose appeared as if on cue.  What will we see and hear September 26?

Annual Star Party - North Fork Park - Friday, May 23 @ 8:30pm

-  Ogden Astronomical Society has the expertise and equipment to make this family-friendly event fun and informative - same magnificent telescopes as last year when a warm night and clear skies prompted many to stay until midnight . . . 

-  Enter North/Cutler Flats gate before 10pm; follow signs to Cutler Flats; park at View Bowery (before Cutler Flats).  Directional signs will be posted.

-  Bring a warm jacket, red kerchief to shield flashlights, and smart phone apps. Restrooms available.

-  Weber State University students will be taking dark sky measurements throughout the park that evening; interested students can tag along and see how a Sky Quality Meter (SQM) works.

-  Sponsored by Weber County Parks & Recreation, Ogden Valley Chapter of the International Dark-Sky Association (Ogden Valley Starry Nights) and the Ogden Astronomical Society.

North Fork Park is in the process of accreditation as a prestigious International Dark-Sky Park - come see why our park, so close to the bright Wasatch Front, is achieving such terrific sky quality measurements.
