Summit and Utah Film Center to Bring Independent Film to Ogden Valley
Partnership attracts statewide traveling film program for monthly showings

EDEN, Utah (May 14, 2013)—Summit, producer of the influential leadership conference Summit Series and owners of Powder Mountain, today announced a partnership with the Utah Film Center to bring independent, documentary, and dramatic film to the Ogden Valley.

“This is the kind of collaboration we’d love to see more of in the future,” said Summit Partner Thayer Walker. “Our goal is to share the knowledge and resources of the Summit community with the Ogden Valley, Weber County, and the state of Utah as a whole. Long term, we hope to amplify the impact of other fantastic local organizations, while bringing artistic and cultural programming to local residents.”

As part of the Utah Film Circuit, the program will begin this fall with monthly showings of films that are otherwise unavailable at commercial venues. The venue and schedule will be announced in late summer or early fall of 2013.

This past March, Summit partnered with the Utah Film Center for an Eden showing of “The Crash Reel,” a documentary about pro snowboarder Kevin Pearce’s recovery from a traumatic brain injury suffered while training for the Olympics. “Given the response to that showing,” said Walker, “it seemed there was demand for a regular film program in the valley.”

The Utah Film Circuit currently serves the communities of West Jordan, Ogden, and Moab and will be expanding into the Price/Helper area and Sundance Resort in the coming year.

“We strive to create community partnerships throughout the state of Utah, and Summit is a natural fit to help expand the audience for film and activism,” said Holly Yocom, executive director of the Utah Film Center.
