Provo Teen Escapes From Residential Treatment Center

A troubled teen from the Provo Canyon School escaped and went on a crime spree Sunday, leaving one dead.

Watch the Fox 13 footage here:

Stolen SUV involved in fatal crash, teen in custody

Is this what we have to look forward to when Ogden Valley gets its first Residential Treatment Facility?

  2. I believe they are referring to Valley Camp over in Liberty.  It is a year round “camp” where adults who struggle or who have struggled with addiction go for support.  It is near a residential area, and the men who go there stay for both brief and extended periods of time. Most People in the valley don’t even know it’s there.  I don’t know if it has been there 50 years, but that’s possible.
On a different note I find it troubling that both the Valley Paper and this site have deliberately hidden any mention of the Water Hearing Results (which GVA won) as well as the recent court ruling that GVA also won.  Something tells me that if either of these hearings had gone against GVA this site as well as the paper would have made it front page news.  When a news paper, and a site like this that claim to be about informing people, deliberately omits current valley news, essentially hiding it from the people, I find this very concerning.
I never want to live in a country where the newspaper and media mislead the people, or lie by omission.  I wouldn’t want this type of reporting for issues that I support or are that I’m against. We have all grown up being told by our elders to be careful not to be too trusting of the media, that the media is a powerful tool that can be used to manipulate, and give power to people who only seek power.  Sadly, I believe both the Valley Paper and this site have lost credibility by choosing to not publish relevant information which would allows the public to make up their own minds.
With as much controversy as this has generated, I would have thought that the importance of providing factual and objective data would be paramount.  Instead, what is printed are slanted stories like this aimed at scaring people.  Either the local media appears frightened to provide people with all the facts and recent decisions, or you appear egotistical and embarrassed to publish outcomes that routinely have gone against your positions.  Ironically, anyone with a shred of intelligence and critical thinking skills can see what is taking place here.

EDEN -- An auction that lasted less than an hour brought in almost $8 million and divided up Wolf Creek Resort. The auction took place Friday at the Pineview Lodge, while golfers teed off at the nearby golf resort. The auction was part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan filed in 2010 so Wolf Creek Properties, LC could sell assets to deal with debt estimated at between $10 million and $50 million. The bankruptcy filing was due to a downturn in the real estate market and the economy, Wolf Creek officials said in 2010.Bidders at Friday's auction had to provide a $100,000 cashier check as a deposit when they checked in. About 60 people including bankers, developers, brokers and attorneys attended the event.Weber County Sheriff's deputies provided security at the auction.Wolf Creek officials had hoped the entire resort would sell as one piece, but instead it was sold in parcels after a final bid of $7 million for the entire resort was rejected during the first phase of the auction. The entire resort is appraised at between $28 million and $34 million, said Rob Olson, auctioneer and owner of Erklens & Olson Auctioneers.Olson told bidders, in an effort to get the bidding started at $10 million, "My dad told me long ago there's only so much land so buy as much as you can."But those attending showed no interest in bidding that high for the 3,000 acres, which included Wolf Creek Ski Resort and Wolf Creek Golf Course. The bidding started at $5 million and slowly increased to $7 million. Following the closing of the first bid, attorneys met and decided that amount was too low.The second round then got under way with different parcels being auctioned off individually.America First Credit Union had the winning bid of $7.1 million for Wolf Creek Ski Resort, which it holds the lien on.Zion's Bank is now the owner of Wolf Creek Golf Course, which it holds a lien on. There were no bids made on the golf course. The Farm Bureau took over ownership of the Pineview Lodge and the clubhouse with a winning bid of $600,000.About 1,400 acres were sold to the Summit Series group for $500,000.Mike Johnson, an attorney for the unsecured creditors, said Summit Series has no lien on any of the properties.Wolf Creek resort was originally called Patio Springs and opened in the early 1900s. In 2000, Steve Roberts and Steve Malachowski founded Eden Investments, LC and Eden Properties, LC for the sole purpose of forming Wolf Creek Properties, LC. Eden Properties is the managing member of Wolf Creek Properties, LC.

  6.  Mr Dehner,

Smaatguy is spot on.  We rely on the input from our humble readers.  You send us the information and we will post it as we have done for the GVA folks in the past.  Comparing the Valley Camp to GVA is weak at best.

  7. Valley,
Let me clarify.  You have provided significant coverage regarding GVA, including using your site to promote donations for hearings.  Then you claim not to be aware of the outcomes of these hearings, and you are relying on the public for what you have posted about GVA?...  is that why you never made mention of the outcomes?
Good grief, give me a break!.
You sure seem to hold folks to a standard you are not able to meet yourselves...and then you dodge the questions because you can' t take the heat.  Was this sad story provided to you by one of your humble readers?  Seems like you are quite capable of providing news that suits your purposes.

  9. Oh, that was alarming. A residential treatment facility should be well secured so as not to have this happen again.
