Ogden Valley Forum Housekeeping Updates

We spent many hours working on a much needed update to the Forum "layout" template through "Blogger."  The new template is much more robust than the previous archaic version and will significantly improve our technical performance.

Among other things, the new template includes quick links to allow users to share our posts via Twitter, Facebook and Email.

The Facebook Badge has been moved to the right column and we invite you to "Like" us to stay up to date on Ogden Valley Happenings.

The Email subscription box is displayed prominently on the upper right column.  Our subscribers receive an email notification of new articles.

The comments section has also been improved with "Disqus."  Disqus was founded in 2007 and based in San Francisco. They are a small but quickly growing company that aims to improve conversations online. Today, the Disqus commenting platform is used by over half a billion people across some of the largest sites on the web, including the Standard Examiner and our friends at the Weber County Forum.

A new feature is the "Recent Comments" tab which lists the last five comments.  A quick glance will direct you to the hottest topics on the Forum.

We have also removed several ads so page load speed should be improved.  We kept a few that we use regularly and invite you to support the forum by clicking on our links when you visit popular sites such as Amazon and Ebay.

More improvements will be made in coming days and weeks, so check back often and be sure to let us know how you like the new format.

  1. The new Disqus comments tool lists the most recent comment first and allows replies to specific comments.  We like it!

  2. Congratulations guys.  The new template looks great!  Disqus is a big improvement too.  Once your readers get used to it, they're gonna love it.

  3. There have been reports of bugs with the blogger/Disqus interface when posting from mobile devices, so we are trying it out from an Android phone.
